Disease flares can recur at any point, particularly if steroids or immunosuppressants are withdrawn too rapidly; close rheumatology monitoring is essential throughout.

Representative studies report disease activity index improvements in 60–75% of infused cohorts over 12 months, with renal histology stabilisation in 40–55% of lupus nephritis cases.
