Malin Parmar
Stem-cell dopamine neurons for Parkinson's · b. 1974
Malin Parmar's research has helped develop and characterise pluripotent-stem-cell-derived dopaminergic progenitors for Parkinson's disease, linking differentiation methods and preclinical testing to academically led clinical translation. The programme addresses a specific cell product, surgical route and neurological indication.
An early phase 1/2 open-label study of the STEM-PD product reported its 12-month primary safety endpoint in eight participants, with longer follow-up continuing; the design was not a randomised efficacy trial. These findings cannot validate other neural-cell products or commercial protocols. See the STEM-PD report and an earlier dopaminergic-cell characterisation study.
Most clinical uses of stem cells remain investigational — check the evidence and approval status for your condition before acting on any clinic's claims.
