Growth Factor

A signalling protein that stimulates cell growth and tissue repair.

Why Growth Factor matters when choosing treatment

Signalling proteins (like VEGF, FGF, TGF-β) that stimulate cell division, differentiation, and tissue repair. Clinics may inject purified growth factors alongside or instead of cells, or rely on cells to secrete them naturally. Purified growth factors act quickly but often disperse rapidly and require repeated dosing; their cost varies enormously. Ask clinics whether they're using recombinant, standardised growth factors or relying on cell-secreted factors (unknown composition, harder to verify). Also ask about dosing rationale: growth factors aren't better at higher concentrations, and excessive doses can trigger unwanted inflammation or abnormal tissue growth.
