Embryonic stem cells are naturally pluripotent; induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) are adult cells reprogrammed to pluripotency in the lab. Pluripotency is scientifically fascinating but clinically risky: pluripotent cells can form tumours (teratomas) if they don't fully differentiate in the patient's body. Reputable clinics restrict pluripotent cells to research or highly controlled trials; most clinical offerings use multipotent cells (bone marrow, fat) with narrower but safer potential. If a clinic mentions pluripotency without extensive safety monitoring, that's a red flag.
